Italeri - The JSF Joint Strike Fighter program was set up to develop a new fifth-generation all-weather multirole fighter capable of providing a valid replacement for the ground attack aircraft of the United States and NATO countries. The project gave birth to the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II single-seater aircraft. Equipped with extraordinary technology, it is characterized by the adoption of an aerodynamic layout, with stealth characteristics, with a trapezoidal wing. Designed to carry out air superiority, close air support and ground attack missions, its cell is available in different configurations. The F-35A operates from conventional runways, the F-35B was designed for vertical take-off and landing, the F-35C is ideal for use from conventional aircraft carriers. In more detail, the F-35C is characterised by its folding wingtips to optimise on-board stowage operations, its rear arresting hook and its reinforced nose gear to make it suitable for the launch catapults of US Navy aircraft carriers.
