We had a great time at the Model Exhibition!
Everyone at Hobby and Toy Central would like to extend congratulations to all the winners and participants at The Royal Canadian Air Cadets, 822 Tutor Squadron 2nd Annual Model Builders Exhibition and Contest. The show was memorable and enthralling and we are thankful to the Cadets and Parent’s Committee for putting on an excellent show.
Once again we sent two of our Model Experts, Jessie and Philip, down to the Waterloo Regional Airport where the model show was being held.
When the doors opened for exhibitors, we were greeted by old and young modellers; several being familiar faces to Hobby and Toy Central. Their excitement was obvious, just as Jessie and Philip’s was. Everyone was eager to show off their models kits and see what their fellow modellers had created this year.
Many of the modellers young and old came to our booth to show us some of the hard work they put into their finished model kits. We were just thrilled with some of the models they were able to put together.
The opening ceremonies were filled with the sounds of Pipes and Drums, O Canada and Amazing Grace. Speeches were made by Stephen Woodworth M.P for Kitchener Centre, Harold Albrecht M.P for Kitchener-Conestoga and the guest of honour Mike Vander Meulen Field Supervisor for Guelph-Wellington Emergency Medical Services who expressed how Cadets had helped shape him into the “leader” he was today. After the speeches, it was back to business talking to model enthusiasts.
About half way through the day we were all surprised by the Pipes and Drums “Flash Mob” , so much that we didn't even have time to get a pitcutre! Following that unexpected surprise, the judging began. There were over 140 entries so the judges had some hard choices to make. Once the awards were handed out we had a chance to talk to the Cadets once more who seemed happy with the day’s results.
Attending this model show was a great fall highlight for the Hobby and Toy Central team. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year for the 3rd annual event!
