Holiday Craft Ideas

The kids are nearly out of school for the holidays and will be itching for the big day to arrive if they aren’t already. Holiday crafts that keep them in the holiday spirit and also keep their hands (and minds) busy are a great option while you finish wrapping gifts, prepping meals, planning parties...preparing for the holidays.

Craft Ideas

We’ve been having a lot of fun with holiday craft ideas on our Pinterest board. One of my favourite holiday crafts ideas this year is a DYI craft based nativity scene with your favourite seasonal characters. Here are a few samples of the creations the kids can make for their 3D holiday sceneHoliday Craft ideas

To get started, you’ll need a few basic crafting items (you may already have these if your kids are crafters)

  • Construction paper
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Paint
  • Markers/ Crayons
  • Pipe Cleaners
  • Holiday accessories like Pom-Poms, Holiday Ribbon, Glitter and Cotton Balls

If you’re missing some items to get going, check out our arts and crafts section in one of our stores or online!

Hunt for Unique Household Items

A fun way to gather household items that are not usually kept with the arts and crafts are to turn it into a treasure hunt with the kids! Some of the items that could be used for holiday crafts are:

  • One Lonely sock
  • Pine cones
  • Beads (broken costume jewelry)
  • Paper Bags
  • Old ornaments or ones where the stringer is broken
  • Plastic bottles
  • Toilet paper rolls
  • Yogurt drink containers

DYI Snow globe

Making personal snow globes is an awesome item that is easy to make and can be used as gifts or stocking stuffers....no wonder they are trendy! A little imagination and these three things are all you need...

  1. Empty jar
  2. Glue
  3. Glitter

We hope this gets the creative juices flowing for both you and your kids! Their imagination, creativity and ability can often surprise us!

Show us what your kids created! Share any of the holiday crafts you and your kids created on our Facebook page. We’d love to share them with the rest of the Hobby and Toy Central Community!
