5 games to get kids excited about board game night!

Get a family board game night started with these favourites!

If your children are getting tired of the games you usually play, try something different! We asked a group of board game enthusiasts what games 6-10 year old kids will love! Here is what they came up with:

1. Qwirkle

Qwirkle

Qwirkle is an awesome option and was recommended by many! It involves matching and plotting. The more tiles you match the more points you earn. It is similar to Scrabble and Rummikub.

2. Blokus

Blokus is a fun game as well! Each player is given blocks and they attempt to fit as many of them on the board as possible. There are restrictions on which blocks can connect with other blocks, therefore the game requires strategy. It ends when the players are blocked from adding any additional pieces to the board and the player with the most points wins!

3. Suspend

SuspendSuspend is a ton of fun for kids in this age group! The idea of suspend is to get rid of your 24 pieces. You must balance your pieces on a stand using only one hand to place them. Any pieces that fall off must be placed back on during later turns. First player to suspend all pieces wins!

4. Alhambra

Alhambra is another recommended game! It involves building up your complex by gaining enough of the correct currency to buy buildings and place them on your board. The idea is to be efficient with your money. If a player purchases a building from the building market with the exact amount of money required they get to go again!

5. Labyrinth

LabyrinthLabyrinth is another entertaining family game! It comes in many different editions so be sure to get one suitable for the age of your kids. The game is a maze in which pieces can be moved which blocks others from getting to their destination. The goal is to get to your destination, retrieve your treasures and head back to your starting point.

All of these games are sure to get your kids together for a board game night.

They all require strategy and will get your kids thinking as well as having a blast and building family memories!  If you have come across any other awesome games for this age group, be sure to let us know!
